This layout caused me a great deal of frustration for some reason, but I can at least say I have week 25 of my Project Life completed, and happily, I love the end results!
This week was all about my birthday! The roses I received from Michael, having the day mostly off work for my birthday, a birthday lunch with my sister, the stamps I brought from a stamp shop near her work as my birthday present (which I spent my birthday afternoon colouring in with copics to make birthday cards!), a Mexican feast in Wollongong with Michael, my desk being decorated at work, dinner with Mum at Charmhaven Tavern, lunch with Michael, Dad, Bec and Zane at Hogsbreath, the ferrero rocher cake Bec made me, and making a mini album to send to Samantha as a surprise happy mail delivery.
I tried a fun new technique this week. The “Amigos” letters on the photo collage from our night out in Wollongong are actually the exact letters from the restaurant’s menu. To copy them onto my page, I downloaded a copy of their menu, print screened it, and opened it in Photoshop. Then I used the magic wand too (in CS5, this is just above the crop tool) to highlight each letter, and copy and paste them onto a transparent page. When I had all the letters copied and pasted, I spaced them out and merged the layers together so that the word is one file again. These letters were plain black when I copied it, but against the photos, they looked washed out, so I used the stroke setting (under layer and layer style) to add a white border around them. I’m so going to try this technique with my scanned handwriting at some stage! If you have any questions about how I did this, feel free to ask in the comments.
I don’t know why I struggled with this layout so much… There was nothing overly hard about it. I know I procrastinated taking a photo of my Elise stamps and scanning my lion card, but I also rearranged this layout quite a lot too. I started it weeks ago, and probably spent about half an hour at the time, and about 2 1/2 hours again tonight. At least I love how it turned out in the end, which makes it all worth it! And this was such a fun week to relive!
25 weeks done, and while I’m further behind then I was before, at least I’m still plugging away at it!
