Blog Face Lift

Introducing my new blog face lift  I’ve spent 2 days working on this now, and I’m pleased to say that I love the results!

I went from this:

to what you can see  now. Much better, don’t you agree? 🙂

Even my about page had an update too! It went from what you see below, to what you now see when you click the about page or my picture on the right of this page. From plain, boring text, to including photos and links! It make me so happy to load my blog now.

I’ve never really messed with these sorts of things on my blog before, so it was actually rather fun to do it! I never thought that setting up social media buttons would be so easy to do either. I put off giving my blog a face lift for a long time because of the fact that I thought it would be a lot harder to do than it ended up being.

To work get to what I’ve done so far, I am working through the Blog (Design) Love class by Elise Blaha and Elsie Larson. I ended up skipping through the first few lessons on there since I’d already thought a lot about what I wanted my blog to look like, and went straight to the doing part of it. This class is great because it’s really straight forward, worded in easy ways to understand, and with plenty of step by step images. I’ve been wanting to start a class like this for awhile now, so I’m glad I purchased this one!

The social media buttons that I’ve used were ones that I found on Pinterest that used to be a free download. When I tried to load the site to link through to it though, it seems the site has now been made private, so I don’t have a way to link back. It was a little disappointing to see, as I didn’t actually have an Instagram link, but I ended up making my own by combining one of these ones with one from google images. It worked pretty well, so i’m happy with it!

If you find any problems with the sidebar, about page or headers that I’ve put in, please let me know so I can get them fixed. I have tested all the links and it does seem to be working from this end, but since I’m pretty new to any of this sort of thing, I’m  not sure how it will necessarily work on other browsers or computers.

Hope you all like it! 🙂
